No trip to Greece can be made in a vacuum. The gods, the adventures, and the physical locations are intertwined and inseparable. This story is not The Odyssey, but it is my odyssey.<\/p>


My wife Jessica and I went to Greece at the end of September 2025, but it wasn\u2019t where we were planning to go. We had envisioned early in the year of going to the Faroe Islands during the summer to capture the dramatic cliffs and seascapes there, but the combination of the trip’s difficulty to plan, Jessica\u2019s hatred of temperatures below sixty degrees, and my general laziness, we found ourselves in May and hadn\u2019t planned a thing, far too late to start. So, we pivoted* to another location we\u2019ve always talked about but never really put too much of a focus on: Greece.<\/p>


Greece is pretty warm year-round, so a later trip in the year could work and seemed more straightforward to plan. The only question that remained was what we wanted to see. There are the obvious places like the Parthenon in Athens and Oia on the island of Santorini, but we didn\u2019t just want to hit all the places where we\u2019d expect to find wall-to-wall with people.<\/p>


When you\u2019re looking at the map of Greece, you\u2019re stuck with so many options. There\u2019s over 200 islands alone, let alone the mainland. We decided very early that we needed some time in Athens to see the Parthenon and learn more about the ancient world in the museums. After that, we both independently discovered Meteora and knew that it would be a very cool place to take photos. The hard part was the islands. We both wanted to see Santorini, but wanted to spend as little time there as possible to avoid the crowds. I looked at Crete, Mykonos, and Naxos as possibilities but Jessica found Milos. It became clear that Milos was the clear winner with a single night in Santorini. What follows is our odyssey.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
